CASA
OF EAST CENTRAL WISCONSIN
ABOUT US
It all started with Seattle Juvenile Court Judge David W. Soukup in 1976. He felt he had insufficient information to make a life-changing decision for a 3-year-old girl who had suffered child abuse. These children, who had experienced abuse and neglect, needed trained volunteers speaking up in the courtroom for their best interests. Today, the national network of CASA/GAL programs have expanded throughout 49 states with over 93,000 volunteers and over 271,500 children served.
CASA of East Central Wisconsin is proud to be one of Wisconsin's local non-profit organizations striving to provide specially selected and trained volunteers as advocates for abused and neglected children who are under the jurisdiction of the juvenile justice system in Manitowoc and Sheboygan Counties. It began in Manitowoc County in 2004 under the umbrella agency of Lakeshore Community Action Program. From there, CASA of East Central Wisconsin filed to become its own nonprofit entity with a mission to expand its services and reach to more child abuse victims throughout Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties.
